Daufuskie Island Fire Department/ EMS Services

Conveniently located in the center of the island is a fully functional Fire Department which also houses EMS personel. The department is staffed daily with 3 full time certified Firefighters as well as Captain, Donald Hubbard, and Chief, Eddie Boys. 

Haig Point provides emergency Medical Evacuation, or Med Evac Services, to patients requiring critical care via our water taxi service to Harbour Town. Repsonse time is quick and patients are delivered to Hilton Head for transportation to the hospital within 7 minutes.

Daufuskie Island Council

Mission Statement

As our Daufuskie Island community grows, numerous issues with island-wide impact will need to be addressed.  Doing this effectively will require bringing together people from all parts of the island to work together, exploring and researching the issues before reaching a consensus and speaking as one voice.  It is proposed that the people of Daufuskie now come together to establish an organization of representatives, elected by the people of Daufuskie, to work together as that voice through regular public meetings with the people of Daufuskie.  This organization will serve as the liaison between the people of Daufuskie and local, state and federal governments and agencies, as well as other entities interested in working with Daufuskie Island to help address the needs and concerns of Daufuskie Islanders.  The organization will also work to ensure that local, state and federal government initiatives that involve Daufuskie are implemented smoothly.”

Daufuskie Island Historical Foundation

Mission Statement

The Daufuskie Island Historical Foundation is a non-profit Corporation organized exclusively for the educational, scientific and charitable purposes for the preservation of the cultural heritage of Daufuskie Island, South Carolina. The Foundation shall also participate in acquisition, holding, preserving and restoring historical sites, buildings, structures, records, paintings, books, artifacts and like things. The proper marking of historical sites and the study of history in general shall be accomplished with the purpose of the furthering public knowledge and appreciation of Daufuskie Island.
