The serene and natural setting of Haig Point is ideal for the outdoor lover who wants to connect with nature. Hundreds of untapped acres surrounded by the Atlantic ocean, salt marshes, and freshwater lagoons, provide abundant recreational opportunities from fishing, crabbing and shrimping to water sports and exploring on long, afternoon bike rides.
Fishing and Crabbing
Fishing
Haig Point has endless opportunities for fishing, whether you are looking for an afternoon on the banks of a freshwater lagoon or a deep water fishing excursion in the Atlantic. On property you will find over 20 lagoons stocked with fish such as Bream, Bass, and Tilapia. If larger fish are your game, try a deep sea fishing charter out of the nearby Harbour Town Marina. For more information of fishing charters click the links below. Fishing licenses are required in South Carolina and can be purchased at Walmart on Hilton Head Island.

Crabbing
Crabbing on Daufuskie is a Low Country tradition. Children light up when they see their first crab in the net. Drop a crab basket or crab pot over one of the tidal bridges in Haig Point and wait for the Blue Crabs to crawl in and get a bite of the chicken leg bait. Daufuskie is known for its delicious Blue Crab Cakes and famous Deviled Crab. Supplies for crabbing are available at the Equestrian Center. Crabs must be 5 inches from point to point to keep.

Beaches
On the beaches of Daufuskie Island one can truly relax. The sand is warm and soft and the gentle breeze, lapping surf and occasional seagull are the only sounds you'll hear. The Bloody Point Beach, while historically significant, is home to many natural sea creatures as well. Happen upon a protected Loggerhead Sea Turtle nest, a Starfish, or even Sand Dollars.
Haig Point also has beach access adjacent to our Calibogue Club and Beach Club. Take a walk with a friend, search for shark's teeth, or simply enjoy the summer sun in a beach chair. |
